Bitcoin Pizza Day is coming to Fayetteville.
On April 30, Max Avery, President of the Arkansas Stand With Crypto chapter and Chief Business Development Officer of Digital Ascension Group, announced that Fayetteville will host an official PizzaDAO Global Pizza Party on May 22, 2026. The local event is being organized with the University of Arkansas Crypto Hogs, led by club president Lucas Vilar.
The date comes from one of Bitcoin's simplest origin stories. On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas. That purchase became the first widely recognized real-world Bitcoin transaction and gave the industry a tradition that is still easy to explain to someone hearing about Bitcoin for the first time.
PizzaDAO has turned that story into a global community day. Its 2026 celebration includes events in more than 400 cities across six continents. Since 2021, PizzaDAO says it has helped give away more than $1 million in pizza across 75-plus countries, using local volunteers and independent pizzerias to bring people together.
